:- 3.0 out of 5 stars from Trailblazer -- Worst book of the series. : Fire From The Sky was been a favorite series of mine, I check for the new releases often. I actually waited a couple days to read this one because, I didn't want any interruptions reading it.The first part of this book was long and boring waiting for something to happen, everyone stood around asking each other if they have seen anything, has there been anything on the radios? was there any information from Jordan? Has there been anyone moving on the main highway? Almost half of this book was like that. Not a damn thing new or interesting till the middle of the book. The farm does end up getting attacked and the story gets really confusing, during the attack the book jumps all over the place. People and places are used in the fight that just appear, some with no background to them. Even more annoying was when two of the highly trained, elite members are shot, both had been screwing around, both are standing up with no cover, with dozens of bad guys around them. Considering how good these guys are made to be in the other books, it just felt out of carrier and unreal. We also have trained military people retreating, getting shot in the back because, no one thought to cover each other moving back? They also save most of their heavy weapons till dozens are hurt or killed, for some unknown reason. In another scene the enemy is going around our weapon, mounted vehicles, they never think to move them to plug the holes in the lines and have to fall back to keep from being over run. These are just some of the ridiculous, unbelievable scenes that happen in this firefight. This story is so full of holes that the book never explains the people that attacked them, or even where they came from. Out of the hundreds that attacked them, they never captured any to find this information out. The rest of the book is just as absurd and is wasted, with Clay trying to open a bank and general store. Considering that most of the population is dead or scattered with just the clothes on their backs, it just seemed strange and out of place, like something for a later book. At the end of the book something interesting happens, so we will see more books in this series. As someone thats read everything N.C Reed has published, I'm personally hoping for more of this series. Hopefully, the books will get back on track after this poorly written one. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2021 )

I have, as a matter of fact, read the first 11 books through three times. I will probably make that four times now that book 12 is out & I have read it. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Pam Shelton-Anderson -- Very book book in the series but oh Lainie ! : I'm always glad for a new book in one of my favorite series and a chance to visit my old friends on the farm. There are a few editing issues, though not many, and some tendency to recap old storylines. This starts with a lot of action, more than we have seen with attacks and this is not without grief at the end of the battle. I was a little surprised that we saw very little of Shane and Jody, both major characters in previous books and also Brick, a crucial combatant in earlier strife, but not seen in this huge battle. I was glad to see Flores back with an adjusted attitude. One weakness in the series is that female characters are often portrayed as overly emotional and erratic and a complete puzzle to the male characters and we rarely get to see good well-balanced female characters. Flores seems to have turned around her attitude and become a good strong leader; the apocalypse will do that to you. In the same vein, I found myself very disappointed in Lainie. While she has had her share of episodes of some emotional over-reaction in prior books, she has also become a good balancing voice of reason for some of the more unreasonable characters like Angela and Abigail. She backslides badly in this book, after Clay asks her to manage the proposed trading post/store (remember she has a degree and experience managing a business). While that might overwhelming at first, her reaction is to become enraged at him to the extent of not allowing him in their bedroom. He told her she could say no to the proposal. Such a childish and vindictive over-reaction. Lainie's silliness aside, this was an excellent and solid addition to the series with a huge cliffhanger at the end.
